best time of day for dealership oil change
From your experience, which time of day are techs most likely to be caring about your car and paying attention at the dealership.
Is 6pm after work a bad time to go to the dealership because most techs are tired and want to go home? Do you think early in the morning is better or are the techs still waking up lol? |

It doesn't matter what time of day you go. Any time you go, they aren't going to be caring about your car or paying attention.
If you love your car and like to keep it clean and scratch free, just do your own oil change.

It's less of an assumption, and more of a fact based on the number of threads I've read on this site complaining about dealership techs fucking up their cars.
Apologies to any dealership service techs on the forums who actually respect and have an admiration for these cars.

I personally used to work for a Mercedes dealer in Florida in high school that had 22 bays, I can tell you those guys cared from the 25 year olds to the 50 year old senior guys. My father in law is also a master tech and does BMW and Porsche privately but used to work at a BMW dealer, I can tell you he and the friends of his I've met care deeply about cars in general and are even more careful with customer cars than their own. With my own cars and I've owned a # of new ones, I've never had a tech do anything stupid or break anything myself. I do know there are obviously bad techs out there but its really unfair to say that you won't get good service at a dealership.

It probably is unfair to generalize, but I agree that in MY experience, the techs have very little knowledge of the vehicle, don't check the specific information for the service for that vehicle and you have to repeat things over and over to ensure that the job gets done right.
My vehicle is with a dealer right now and I was so nervous leaving it there, following some very basic misunderstandings right off the bat. For example, twice I asked for an oil, filter change and a tire rotation, but they came back with..."We'll get that full service taken care of for you"...leading to another check on what they had in the work order... Also, I have to specifically ask that they do not touch the entertainment system and don't take the car off the lot...otherwise...you know what happens. I understand there are good techs out there...I do know one...but they are SO rare. I don't blame the techs...I blame the dealership service center culture that has created this scenario.

The best time of the day to get an oil change at the dealership is when the service department at the dealer is open for business.

Step 1. Look up DIY for oil change.
Step 2. Go to dealer for oil change. Step 3. Wait 3 hours. Step 4. Realize just because dealer oil change is cheaper than DIY it still isn't worth it. Step 5. ??? Step 6. Profit

At least in our area (and from what I've seen at a single Mercedes dealer), the lube technicians are usually the newest guys in the shop. Take from that what you will.
