Which Single Upgrade for Improved Audio?

Hi. I don't want to spend a lot for a total overhaul of my BRZ's audio, but was wondering which single item (like amp, headunit, speakers) would improve audio quality the most when upgraded. I'm kind of a noob when it comes to car audio, but am probably technically proficient enough to install something myself.

Modify the EQ Settings as suggested in avholic's thread and install some sound deadening.

From what I have read, many people comment that changing the HU improves overall sound quality.

Of course, you could keep the stock HU and just get the OEMAudio+ kit. The people that have it rave about it.

I'd ask first what budget he's got in mind. and how much of an audiophile he considers himself.

I personally think the HU is the best thing, you can get a lot more options on customization and sound quality.

But sound deadening is also a great idea, not just for listening to music, but for a more quiet driving experience.

I can barely hear my brakes squeal with the sound deadening. heheheh

I'm thinking of sound deadening, what's the usual cost? Just don't want myself to get scammed.

As others have said OEM Audio+ and sound deadener are the simplest options.

You can get a bulk pack for ~$100 and that will more than cover the necessary bits.
