DIY Stealth Bulbs
So maybe you're looking at your FRZ and you're thinking "Gee. I sure wish I had a more monochrome look going on. Those orange bulbs are gross."
![]() Well get yourself a can of niteshade for ~$6 and get to work. Buy a new set of bulbs, or use your stock ones. Just make sure to clean them with some alcohol beforehand. ![]() ![]() (Poptarts not included with Niteshade purchase) Give them ample time to dry then throw them back in the car. ![]() Mmmmm...monochromatic. But they still blink orange! ![]() _________ I've been running these bulbs for years--I had them in my last car and was lucky enough that they were the same bulbs the BRZ uses so I swapped them over before I sold. A MUCH cheaper alternative to $30 "Stealth bulbs."

Does this affect the brightness of the turn signal? I'm guessing it must. I worry that the signals are already hard to see.

I definitely wouldn't say they are "hard to see" by any stretch of the imagination. They blink pretty bright. Obviously if you coat them in 17 coats of Niteshade you'll make them really dark though. I just used enough to get rid of the orange...
I can post up a video, I suppose.

"stealth bulbs", Dark bulbs against a chrome background.
Gotcha.

You spent more (money and time) on the Niteshade and plain bulb combo than if you were to just get the actual stealth bulbs. Either way, I find them all to be inadequate.
Props on the DIY though.

I had niteshade lying around from old projects. I find that a can lasts forever if you know what you're doing.
Also where are you buying your stealth bulbs? Because most places you'll find online is upwards of $30. Which is ridiculous. Niteshade: $7 Bulbs: $Free if you use your own, or $3/set Soooo ~$10

Hell, pay shipping and I'll send you mine. Like I said, they were disappointing. They went in, then back out. I only paid about $6 for them.

Why were they disappointing? Not bright enough?

They were dimmer than stock, which is to be expected from any covered up bulb. Anything dimmer than stock is pretty much a fail in my eyes. Even my LED turn signals in my tail lights are dimmer, but they offer a clean on/off so I let them slide...for now.
