Water Methanol Injection? NA application.

Anybody try this? I'm interested in getting this AEM kit. I'm hoping for feedback from anybody who's done this on NA engines. It's not too popular for the NA crowd but since we run 12.5:1 compression, WMI seems fitting. If anything, I'd run it for safety than anything else.

I use to run this until E85 came to be, biggest waste of time and money.

Why's that? There's a lad over here that's determined it's the next best thing since sliced bread. We don't get E85 though.

Just a pita compared to E85.
Longer tuning time as well as getting the right nozzles for power level.
An extra system to fail although it has gotten heaps better recently, fail safe for low level etc. You are also carrying extra bottles just incase. Then you have to tie it into the ecu for a different map if no more meth mixture.
E85 has none of the above, just fill up as normal plus we have DI which has proven results by an sae research as compared to port.

However, no E85 then use meth if you will, I wouldn't bother on NA that is for sure.

As someone who used to run methanol injection - don't.

It really is not worth the time and money. The stress of consistently worrying about whether your car will explode is an unneeded headache. The liability of having an explosive liquid other than gasoline in your vehicle is another deterrent (despite the 49/51 non-combustibility ratio, but why even bother putting yourself in that position in the first place).

Aquamist. I've been running it on my boosted BRZ. I have a "no meth" map that pulls timing for safety, so if anything happens to the meth (clogged line/low level) it won't hurt anything.

I ran a W/M Injection in my 135i, but only because it was tuned aggressively and I don't have E85 here. I don't see the benefits vs cost of using it in a NA car.

Well for a boosted application, I am a firm believer that it's essential! Here's my WMI kit on the mr2...

Just your simple stage 1 kit. It's merely for safety against bad gas and comes online at 10psi. My butt dyno does feel a difference in power though- with/without. I've setup an LED to the left of my boost gauge to light up when it activates. It works flawlessly even after being stored for 3 winters. Not sure where all the WMI paranoia is coming from. I know tons of people running WMI boosted and all have sung praise to it's use.

But I've never ran into anybody who has done WMI on a non-turbo application. I may be the first...? These cars get repped for being gasoline quality sensitive. The last thing I want it high cylinder temps cooking the DI seals

Yes, I may do it. Nothing wrong with asking around first to see if there actual people that have done it to this car- NA.
