DIY - Vertical Door Install 2013 FRS

**** edit on Oct 2016 **** I added a "Part 9" video below to show how far the modified door opens outward.

Yes, I know that many of you are major bigots when it comes to vertical doors so please DON'T LOOK AT THIS POST. Move on and save yourself all of the aggravation because obviously this post is for those of us who like them and we really don't want to hear your opinion. This is a DIY, not a blog where I'm asking for your slanderous remarks or photos meant to ridicule. Enough said and thank you for not ruining this for others who don't have your opinion.

I have made a 7 part video series which will take over an hour to watch and it details every step necessary to install the Vertical Door, Inc. door hinges. There are many kinds of hinges out there but these do not require any welding or drilling and only minor cutting of the fender and body.

I'd like to see some classy pics of the finished product.

I know people hate this idea, but I personally like it. Adds flare.

I'll post some when I get home from work tonight. I'm glad you like it. I was very torn weather to post or not with all of the negative feelings out there about them. I just decided "why let the many ruin it for us few" and threw it out there. I've always tried to be informative and helpful in my posts. I hope this post can be useful to someone else who wants to install them.

I personally don't like the idea of it, or the work load to do it. That being said, you've done something to YOUR car that was done for YOU. So you keep doing you like you do you. That is what this is about.

All that being said, I would like to see some, as stated, "Classy pics" of the finished product. This would be one of the first I've seen.

I'm not a fan of the vertical doors, but I do appreciate the work that goes into the modification. Even if someone wasn't looking to do the same install, they could use your video to see how the door cards are removed for a speaker or door deadening installation or how to pop the rubber gaskets off to run speaker wire to the doors.

You do need to add pics or video of the final product though. . that's the only thing missing.

They are definitely a very unique upgrade. Personally a mod I would consider, but they are always cool to see at shows

I'm glad you posted this DIY!

I want to see final pics too.

For the naysayers - There IS a practical aspect to this.
When it hails and I need to wedge the BRZ into the garage , I can only open the door enough to barely squeeze my fat ass out....

Good job on the DYI. Don't worry about the haters. Insecurity runs deep.

It's the lemming / witch trial syndrome. As soon as the number of people going negative reaches critical mass, all of a sudden everybody goes negative. I've seen many an idea go into the shitter because of this.

I agree. I did say it's not my thing, but think it's great he's going for it. His car, his vision.

Being there Really so many vids of the install and being they show him taking his time to do it right, I bet it came out great and I hope he enjoys the finished product

Sometimes the majority thinks something is dumb. Then the majority will think something else is great. It's nothing about insecurity or lemming mentality; it's much simpler than that. This is how the world works. All it comes down to is how many people think something that s dumb versus how many think it's great. This is just how things work.
