Amber fogs on brz?

Anybody have amber fog overlays on their BRZ? There doesn't seem to be any pictures. I've seen plenty of the yellow overlays but they look too light for my taste. I'm looking for more of a golden yellow, not straight up amber/orange colored. I may even consider 3000k bulbs if I can find some.

It's because Selective Yellow is more ideal for actual fog light use. Amber is for turn signals...

Yeah some people choose 3000k hids/LED bulbs which gives an amber color for the fogs just for looks, so I was wondering if any have used amber overlays.

Selective yellow was originally thought to work because of the wavelength of light "cut" through the water droplets. This isn't the case. It works because the eye can withstand more yellow light and it doesn't cause the pupils to constrict, resulting in better vision.


It's why driving glasses, shooting glasses, and anti-glare coatings are yellow: to cut out the blue light that our eyes don't like.

Not sure where you get your info, but this simply isn't the case. White light is superior for seeing, period. If you wanted something easier on the eyes, you would go with red or just a dimmer bulb.. Yellow is pretty close to the middle (555nm) of the light spectrum, green being the middle (575nm).



The human eye closely picks up to the ~5000 kelvin temperature range since this is what correlates with the sun, and is white (all spectrums) light.



The whole yellow light thing was a myth from the 70s or 80s that just never seemed to die, and now is popular with the ricers. And before somebody brings it up - it is used in some racing to distinguish between classes when multiple classes are on the track at the same time.

Shooting glasses come in a bunch of different colors depending on what color's you are trying to highlight (target) or as just sunglasses. Driving glasses are an "As Seen On TV" gimmick.

Red would be better, but this is why it's used a brake lights and we need to differentiate from the front of the vehicle. Your graph basicly proved my point though, much like this one:





Green + Red = yellow to our eyes.

Kevlin and nm are measuring different things, though they are related.

Near UV light (in other words, blue) is damaging to our eyes. Also, like I said, it causes our pupils to constrict to try and protect our eyes from the damaging effects.

i have the amber LED bulbs in mine. i'm not using them as fog lights; just additional amber marker lights for safety. i think that they help make my car more noticeable than just headlights alone as i approach. at least, when i see other cars with yellow fogs or amber marker lights, they catch my attention more.

That's my intention as well. That looks really good! I wish I would've bought those LEDs before they were discontinued. Now I'm considering amber overlays but I'm not sure how the car would look with the fogs off during the day.

Since the amber fog LEDs are discontinued and I couldn't find any pictures, I decided to try out the amber fog overlays. I already posted these pictures on the bluebatmobile thread, but figured I would post here as well in case someone stumbles across this thread wondering the same thing I was.



(It was my first time playing with vinyl so I will be redoing them soon cause I messed up)

I had to use the HDR feature on my crappy iPhone for this picture to get an accurate color output from the fogs. I have nokya 2500k bulbs as well (on stock fog housing), giving it golden yellow light
