Ever made one? It's a bitch. One of the cables I'd never want to DIY....
Though even ones you could buy from Best Buy or B&H can be pretty shity, open one up and you'll see some crappy construction. But a good quality HDMI cable shouldn't be expensive.

They're in business because they can charge idiots $60 for less than $1 in raw materials.

I got my 6 foot HDMI cables from Ebay. Constuction maybe not the best, but even with my cats walking around the back of the TV and over and under the cables, I have not had 1 fail yet and I could buy 10+ more then a single store bought cable.
Icing on the cake would be someone with Monster cables LOL. Now those are retarded. |

http://gizmodo.com/5981823/beat-by-d...lost-the-world I don't feel bad for Monster at all because they made (and still make!) a lot of money. But considering LeBron James is apparently making $30m + stock from his 1% share in Beats, you have to laugh a little bit at how much they lost out on. |

Only $59? Surprised it's not $99.
There's a sucker born every minute. Monoprice.com is where it's at, you can get 5 of the same cables for that same $60.

You guys will laugh at me. I paid like $80 for an HDMI cable, but that was also about 8 years ago. Even funnier, bluray players were still new and super expensive, so I bought an upconverting DVD player that actually cost less than the cable.

I love my monoprice cables in rainbow colors. Makes it much easier when all your cables aren't the same color.

Our electronics engineer had an argument with a sales guy once, when he was trying to buy the cheapest cable and the sales guy kept trying to steer him towards the expensive ones because it will have better performance. Our EE than asked if he understood how digital signals work....silence.
The only reason to ever buy expensive high performance cables is if you need to run a really long length of cable. |

I've been there and had to buy overpriced cables to get something to work because I was impatient. Otherwise.. yeah..

Huh, I guess I can think of a situation where I need a cable today... I also can't think of anyplace I would be further than an hour away from a Fry's. Also, Amazon Prime yo, pretty happy with the quality, I'm sure mine will outlast the format even though you can find cheaper.
