Carbon fiber hood & SCCA classing

If I read my handbook correctly my STX car would be illegal with a carbon fiber hood and trunk lid and it appears to me would not even be eligible for SP. Anyone have any experience with this? Trying to turn my curse of hail damage into a blessing without screwing up my classing.

Thanks

Carbon Fiber hood will put you into Street mod. Your classing is officially screwed.

Sweet. Looks like I will be spending my mod money to make the car look exactly the same as it did before Mother Nature rained her fury upon me. What a fun and frivolous purchase!

Isn't hail damage covered by insurance?

Yes insurance is covering it. However my deductible is eating up my "make my BRZ sound cooler than a Prius" funds

I wonder how many people have bought C/F hoods for these cars that weigh more than stock and still been bumped a class

My thought exactly. It is difficult to beat the weight of the stock hood.

Bill and Ken are good, but they are also forthcoming and sharing folks. Could be you'd pick up tips that put you on track for "big boy" speed.

Absolutely I could learn from them and I routinely do from watching, talking to, and chasing faster drivers (like a certain BMW driver).
