Think this would work on older (classic) paint as well as newer?

Dunno, I've never used it... but the reviews on Amazon look good. Such as:

"I purchased this product based on customer reviews. I have a 13 year old black silverado 1500 ext cab pickup, after using this product with a 6" random orbital buffer my paint looks new.. I am amazed at the finish. The first step is the most important, if this step is done correctly and completely the results will be simply amazing. If you spend 90% of you time with the first step, steps 2 and 3 will take very little time and you will be impressed....I would recommend this product to everyone..."

And

"I used this on a 1999 F-350 that I recently purchased. The paint was horrible -- I doubt it's ever seen wax. This product restored the paint to the best it is ever going without repainting.

I've read step one is the most important step, and spent an entire day just on just this step. The yellow buffing pad wore out before I could fnish step one -- I live in a major city and couldn't locate a replacement pad, so I finished step one on the blue pad, and used a wool pad that I could locate on a Sunday for step two. I wouldn't recommend this approach.

The end result exceeded my expectations, but keep in mind the pads are very difficult to locate on a Sunday if you run out. I would reccomend at least getting a second yellow pad before starting, and if your paint is as bad as mine was, a second white pad as well.

3M makes amazing products, but I wish they stocked them better for consumers through retailers."

Now if I just had a PepBoys around here anywhere... appears it's at least an hour away.

Why not buy it and have it shipped?

I have something like this, never used it on cars before, would it work with this kit for cleaning up a 2007 Jeep Wrangler?

IMO that would not be much more effective than doing the job by hand, you need something with a larger orbital stroke, like a dual action polisher. The stroke on a palm sander would most likely be too small to be very effective, and the motor is probably too weak to effectively move a polishing pad. Plus I don't know if you could even find any polishing pads to fit it. Harbor Freight has this polisher, and for the price is an awesome unit and actually has more power than the Porter Cable 7424XP.

Thanks! I think I'll get that tomorrow and get that kit from Pep Boys. I'll give it a shot on my wife's Jeep, and that'll give me some practice with the polisher before I try using it to wax my Monogram!

I bought the 3M kit today, and they took an additional 10% off. The sales guy said the pads were probably worth that much. They had one box left. I might go back and buy it just for the extra set of pads. I also bought the HF polisher that Richard recommended, and I got an extra 15% off it! Once the rain stops I'll give them a shot!
