Winjet Headlight Issue: HID Color Change to Blue at The "Connection Point"

Hi everyone,

I installed my Winjet headlight and 5000k HID from @fteightysix yesterday and realized that the light from passenger side is really BLUE when I see them from a certain height/angle/position. From other angle or position, the color was just white.

For the driver side headlight, the HID light was always white whether which angle I look at them from.

Here are some pics:

- Highest position, Height 1:
At this position you can not tell the difference between the left and right light.

- Height 2:
The passenger side light becomes blue at the "connection point", which is the point when people start to see the "Brightest light".

- Height 3:
This is a position lower than Height 2. You can see that since you reach the "connection point", the light become really bright. The color difference become better, but you can also see that one is more blue than another.

- Lowest position, Height 4:
At this point the left and right color are the same.

I'v tried these:

---------------------------------------
Bulbs Swap:

I swapped the bulbs today.

And the driver side is white as normal. (After I install the bulb the beam are alot lower than before on the drivers side so I can not see the very bright point even if I moved my head to the ground..)

However, on the passengers side, the color is still blue at a certain height/angle/position after I swap the bulb.

so it might not be a 8000k and a 5000k bulb that shipped by mistake.

--------------------------------------------
Height adjustment:

I adjusted the height 25ft away from a wall last night and the headlight height were ok. Today after I swapped the bulbs I realized that the drivers side light are a lot lower. so maybe I did not installed the drivers side correctly either today or last night.

But anyway, even if the drivers side is not properly adjusted now, it will not be too blue at any point.

I can also see the BLUE light at the "connection point" from passengers side no matter the height is adjust properly or not. All I need to do is to move my head down to the ground or walk away from my car until I see the light become brightest.

Is it because I did not install the bulb correctly? or because of the housing?

Here is what the H7 bulb connector looks like:

As you see on the left side it is flat and with a pin on it. So when I install the bulb on my headlight, this side should face DOWN correct?

Thanks everyone!!!

Or maybe because I only adjusted the vertical knob (for height) and did not adjust the horizontal knob???

That's the color band from the cutoff... One would have to disassemble the headlights to mess with the spacing of the lens to get rid of that (most people LIKE it and tune the headlights to get that)

Thank you.

I dont like it not because they looks bad, because my driver side and passenger side are difference. Driver side HID are as normal as the HID/headlight I used on my previous cars.

Is there any quick solution to solve these problem? to get tid of that or to make my driver side to be the same.

I did some research and you are correct.

The light output on my wall is like this:

This is a image I found online.

There is a blue curve on the top, which is the same thing on my car.

There is probably a height at which the driver side does it too. I think the enses are designed like this so that the light that shines into oncoming traffic (driver side) doesn't blind the oncoming drivers. I may be wrong but I think that's why the cutoff usually is higher on the passenger side.

Also did you buy the retrofit projector pr is this using the stock halogen projector that the winjets come with and just hid bulbs? If so that would also explain it. I know on halogens the right side cutoff is higher than the driver to prevent glaring into oncoming traffic

That is intentional that way it doesn't blind oncoming drivers. All headlights do that.
