The Future

Visiting my grandparent's place is one of the best memories of mine. Roast for lunch, the Christmas tree and decorations, playing mah jong, the smell of the gas burner in the bathroom, grandpa's shed. It was a place of magic.

When grandpa died grandma moved up north. I was older and the magic was disappearing. It wasn't the same.Things weren't like they used to be.

Just like now. My father died about a year ago and I am crying thinking about him. Fuck I miss him.

It is all normal part of life but doesn't mean I have to like it.

There is nothing to be gained by saying this but I will say it any way. I'm a little scared of the future.

when the internal combustion motor on a passenger becomes a thing of the past, and we all get taxed by the mile instead of by the gas we no longer have to purchase.

waiting on the day they start to implant microchips in peoples brains and we longer have to attend school to become educated, we just get the latest download.

I'm sorry for your loss. I went home recently and both my parents look much older and weaker than I remember, and I'm dreading the day that I get that phone call from my sister. It's going to be soon though.

Do you have any of his stuff, or pictures of you two doing things together? Look back and find the good memories to think about.
