What should I look for? Can that damage anything?

Depending on the tow...

Check the whole under body, ripped off plastic parts, etc. Scrapes.

Scratches on the car. The alignment of the car as well...

Most common ones i see are damaged bumpers...

If it looks OK and drives OK, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just don't park there no more .....

Look for damage underneath. I just bought a car with a bad trans to flip and the towtruck driver busted a hole in the oil pan!

They'll just deny the whole thing and will expect you to prove the damage wasn't your fault.

my brothers car got towed and they fucked up his bumper with the tow hook and denied that they did any damage. they took a picture with the crane thingy covering the damage and far away with bad quality so there was nothing to see in the picture. there was mud all over the car and muffler was even scraped up. they said it wasnt in the picture so they didnt do it... car got detailed the day before... and they only took 1 picture of the car. hell.. the tow truck didnt even have mud guards on it

If I were you, I'd look for a better place to park. One that won't end with you getting towed.

Is it a manual? If you left the car in reverse for example and they towed it from the front, I heard that would cause damage.

There is no way to get anything from them. They will say that they did not do it and you would need a lawyer to fight them. They know that is expensive and you wont do it so they basically don't give a shit.

Totally sucks.

Tow companies are scum and you are better off just leaving this one alone. Trust me (and others), it is not worth your time and money.

It doesn't matter if it's in reverse. If a car is dragged in any gear, any way, it can cause damage.
