OpenFlashTablet for Automatic Transmissions
Within 2 years since its release, it brings all of us 86-ers joy that the aftermarket has provided us with a wide array of resources to begin modifying and tuning our cars. With this said, it does seem that the majority of tuners and tuning experience with the 86s are with the manual transmission; and with good reason too since it is the more popular of the two tranny options.
Without digressing into a "manual vs. automatic discussion", Has anyone had any experience with tuning their automatic FRS/BRZ through the use of the OpenFlash Tablet? Any AT owners with the OpenFlash Header+ OFT tune? or even AT owners with the OFT300 kit? |

Thank you for the responses guys, its great to hear that a lot of people are investing their time/money into OFT's well-proven support for the manual transmission.
Moving forward, this thread's interest is to focus on the 86 owners who specifically have the automatic transmission and are using the Open-Flash Tunes/Header. |

OP, I have all of the acronyms you're talking about. What do you want to know about specifically, other than yes, the OFT/OFH is perfectly compatible with A/T cars?

I have purchased the OFT and am consider the OFH (very seriously) for the gains that have been shown. At this point, as I'm still catching up, I'm only logging data with OFT on my stock AT. Things have changed a bit since I was a kid. There are a few different setups on the AT platform, out there in various threads.

I run the OFT with an auto. Butt-dyno is pleased.
No problems other than a temporary and harmless transmission CEL that happens when you read your ECU.

I have an Auto + OFH + OFT. Definitely felt a difference, and haven't come across any problems. Although the metallic resonance sound (or whatever it is) between 3800 - 4200 RPM on the Stage 1 tune had me concerned for a bit. But after the OFH and Stage 2 UEL tune, I haven't really noticed anything like that.

I have a 6AT with a JDL UEL/Overpipe, OFT tune and E85. It runs amazingly well and there is a good leap in power from stock form.
Soon I'll be adding a Phantom Electric Supercharger as well, already have my name on one for Rob's next batch. |

I have an automatic and have the OFH, OFT, and ESC (soon to be 1.5x battery pack) - still love the auto even though I'm a manual guy at heart.

I've had the OFT for a while now with Revwork's UEL and more recently a CBE. The tablet is wonderful for ATs and probably more for MTs xD
Datalogs seem fine, though I'm not exactly proficient in reading it... Only thing is FA20club's CAI throws off the AFR but that has nothing to do with the Vishnu's OTS tunes.

Sounds like it already does. Unless your looking for integration into the PCM. It will currently allow you do to anything you can on an AT as you would on a MT.
