Security Feature we need! (PUSH TO START)

Okay so one of the dumbest things i find about my limited BRZ is that when I am away from my car and it is on (key is with me) it knows and beeps but still able to be driven if someone else tried to drive it.

Does anyone know if we can make it so that when the key is away from the car and it is still on to disable it from drive? Possibly through Ecutek? Maybe even a map that makes the throttle not work?

Idk if anyone finds this annoying but I don't wanna have to turn off my car whenever I have to leave it for a few seconds.

I don't think it's a good idea. If your remote battery dies while driving on the twisties, you don't want your car to stop because the key isn't detected anymore.

Can't you just lock the doors even with the car running? I never checked.

You can lock the doors using the key blade in the door

If you drive a stick it won't matter for the vast majority of those interested in stealing it.

They'll still get.

SI Civics get stolen like no tomorrow in the five boroughs.

Don't forget, our cars are very desirable.

Very easy to sell our bumpers, fenders, seats and so forth on craigslist for a good and buck.

Like I was thinking maybe have a custom map from ecutek where the throttle does nothing. This can be toggled before I get out of my car. No one would know to change the maps

It doesn't stop the car if it loses access to the key... it just won't turn on again after you stop the car.

If your willing to change the map in the car why can't you just turn off the car?

You can't really blame push to start for the annoyance of having to turn off your car when you walk away.

This would still occur with regular old turn key, you would have to turn your car off if you want to walk away, or you would be leaving the key in the ignition and thus allowing people to be able to drive with it.

Like mentioned above you can lock doors with key-blade.

This is an issue I have with my 10 Series which I didn't have on my previous car (A Nissan Altima).

On my Nissan, I was able to get out of the car and then push the button on the handle to lock the car. If the intelligent key was still in the car, the car will not lock and it will beep if you tried to lock it with the button on the handle.

On this car, I have to physically lock the door (the button doesn't even work because it unlocks itself immediately), and then use the physical key. Have you not seen how small that key is? It's a pain to use LOL.

Nissan got it right for that... I can't believe Toyota/Subaru couldn't get that down.

Turning the car off and on is bad for the battery and engine. It increases wear and tear.

What, where are you getting that information from?

Just turn your car off. It's really not a big deal.

That's right. You should avoid cranking your car at all.
