there have been a number comparison threads over the last year or two...

I have the Perrin foam filter and love it. I doubt there is much difference between them all. I personally prefer foam filters as performance tends to drop off less as they get dirty.

The K&N filter seems to work in my car.

For additional HP, be sure to apply the stickers ....

He said she said. I've got a k&n. I have seen third party testing showing it makes power. Could I feel 5hp? Nope. Does it sound good? Yep. Is it washable? Yep. Can I follow simple directions to properly wash it? You betcha. Price is right. Warranty.

Actually that is a good point, i cleaned my perrin filter recently. I was seriously impressed with just how much dirt and random shit it had filtered but the process for cleaning and re-oiling it was a royal pain in the ass.

K&N is a wet filter, which makes it more of a pain than a good dry filter like the aFe.

The nice thing about a good drop-in panel filter isn't performance but maintenance. Instead of replacing the filter at regular intervals, you just clean it and put it back in. That, and they can sometimes do a better job than the stock filter.
