What class would I be in for solo

So I was thinking of running in c-street but i want 18X7.5 or 18X8.5 if I did that what class would I be in? and is it a good class for this car and what other mods could I do to the car?

The car is stock at the moment but I will be modifying the car as time goes on.

Also I want to use Bridgestone RE-11 or RE-11a tires

Those wheels will put you in at least STX. To stay in C-Street you have to keep the width basically the same 7".

If you are new to autocross you will have a huge learning curve for driving technique and learning the course(s) so it probably doesn't matter what class really. If you want to eventually be competitive you will have to pick which classes your car is eligible for and decide where you want to be. The trick is to prep the car to the class to the maximum extent possible within the rules. Check out some of the other posts here to see what people are doing to their cars. For now just have fun, dont worry about placing, and learn to drive on the edge. Street class is intended to allow people to race with minimum modifications. Most car parts must stay stock. if you have wide wheels, you will be in STX, but racing against people who also have the best street tires for autcross, headers, performance exhaust system, CAI, engine tune, coilover shocks, and a precise setup plan for the car, and some behind the wheel experience. Go out with what you have, learn what it takes to run the course well, ride along and/or have someone ride with you who has a similar car (rear wheel drive), and have a great time.

You'll be in STX with those wheels. Other allowable mods are headerback exhaust, intakes, tunes, sways, etc. Honestly though, as one of the other posters said, if you're just starting you're not going to be competitive outside of the rookie field. Go out, have some fun, and if you decide you like it then you can start building out the car.

yeah, it's a great tire by itself, but doesn't quite stack vs the comptetition.

personally i have driven on the BFG Rivals, Dunlop Z2, and Hankook RS3, and Toyo R1R.

i would actually rank them in that order, but it should be noted that i run in S2 so limited to 7 inch rim and camber limited (to put it mildly LOL)

For my personally I love the BFG due to its stiff sidewall and allowances to still have good grip even with a camber limited car.

I will be testing the Yokohoma's AD08R at the next event. I can't wait for that one. Hopefully it doesn't disappoint.

So are you all saying RE11's are not good for stx? I thought it was one of the better tires. So whats a good list or tires for stx?

I have auto crossed before and I like it! but this year I am taking it to the next level in terms of getting a lot more seat time and going to evolution driving school.I'm not looking to build a crazy stx build over night but that is the class I want to be in the future and I do want my car to look and perform a certain way(not just for auto x) so I'm building my car the way I want!

Well, not very many are trying them, but so far the general consensus among the folks who take this super (over?) seriously is that the bridgestones aren't on par with the rest of them. Like mentioned by others, people seem to be gravitating more towards the RS3, ZII, or the Rivals, and that preference is more based on the limitations each tire has. If you're able to play to the tires strengths/limitations for each one, I think it is more or less in that order, too.

That said, the re-11a is their effort at a tire in this category. If you're not needing to be super serious about it, and perhaps not being able to put the car up front is not a big deal to you, then maybe it's a no harm, no foul, kinda thing. You certainly could do worse...like the eco tires the car came with.

RE-11/A's are excellent dual-purpose tires that actually wear pretty well (for what they are). They are very quiet on the road compared to the others in the segment and are good in the wet. That being said, they aren't as fast as the rest of the segment. As others have mentioned I'd be looking at ZII's, and maybe the RS-3 (I like the current tire but they are updating it - not sure how the new one will be).

Since you DID dare to make this a compond thread lol, I will ask you a question here in the interest of not having to make a whole new thread for one question. Im also going to be autocrossing this year in STX and I will be running my stock size (17x215) Pilot super sports. How does this tire stack up against the more popular autocrossing compounds? Also going to be a rookie so Im not crazy concerned about it since I already have the tires but curious none the less.
