Skid Plates Available for the 86?

Ive only seen one option out there so far and it seemed rather pricey at $1100-2000 depending on the thickness, can anyone point me in the directions of other ones, or a builder here in Canada that can create one for me? My car is going 1.5" lower and is driven year round here in Canada, I definitely want to invest in one to save the undersides of my car.

What are you trying to protect it from? The factory under trays do a decent job of protecting it from smaller objects. Unless you're planning on hitting manhole covers or similar you *should* be fine?

We get huge ruts and tons of chunks of ice falling off big trucks here, ive shattered many a plastic cover underneath on various cars over the years here.

Fair enough. The factory one is metal so it's a better start, but if you're hitting big enough pieces of ice you might want thicker. My only thought is that it has to go through your bumper first to get under there, so it might not be as big of a problem as on other cars?

I am expecting my front bumper wont do well, but I am willing to deal with it.

Have a look at the factory under tray before you spend any money. To put on a skid plate you're basically going to have to replace the whole metal under tray, which isn't a small piece at all.

FWIW, I drove into a ditch avoiding a deer and the whole underside of my car is perfectly fine... No damage whatsoever.

You might check with these guys. The owner mentioned to me at an autocross event last season that they may be building a skidplate for our platform. I know they sell a bunch to the Subaru flat4 guys and their prices seem very inexpensive. http://www.sixstararmor.com/index.html

I've used my car in SCCA RallyCross three times since I bought it in April. I've made use of the skid plate multiple times, no damage to expensive parts yet.
