The benefits of a aftermarket catted front pipe
So, I thought I had it all sorted out. K.I.S.S. Header+ catback+ OFT tunes. But after installing my catback and seeing the silly little lunch box in the front pipe, and just installing OFT. How much is there to be gained in getting a after market catted front pipe?

More than a catback.

Closer you get to the engine, more restriction. So freeing up the restriction with a higher diameter pipe and high flow cat will help power, and also increase sound throughout the entire powerband. It keeps drone, rasp, emissions, and smell down too rather than going catless.

It will help a bit, but you will most limey get drone/rasp. Keep the stock FP.

Thanks for the input. But a catback makes alot of sense as the stock muffler is only a rat trap at best. The front pipe, is what 2.25" as aftermacket is 2.5", at $200+?. Anyone got dyno numbers? Next you will tell me your $250 airintake got you 10 to 15 more hp.

@jflogerzi Rasp depends on what you have for cats, resonators and muffler. I have a resonated catback, catted front pipe and overpipe from Perrin. With a catted header from P&L the car was a bit louder but sounded good with no rasp or drone. I'm very picky about noise level, loud to me is mild to most.

Once you take off the stock overpipe you'll understand why it's a restriction.....
Rasp and noise is almost all about the CBE....

Ok..after a two hours of searching. Found nothing more than fabled dyno numbers for catbacks and front pipes. Any help here??

Personally I'd look at the nameless catted DP... Combines both front and overpipe into one for $500
Leave the catback until you get headers as it may be loud enough by then.....

The closer you are to the engine the more velocity you have and the more head loss from restrictions....
So even if the catback is the same as the front pipe it won't be as bad since it's at the end.

Try asking for exactly what you want to know. Do you want exact numbers? Those will change brand to brand. Do you want to be told which one to get? Nameless fp/op combo. It replaces the overpipe and front pipe with a better route than any two piece option. It will gain more power than your cat back ever could hope to gain.
It will not be a big number. But neither is a catback.

Why don't you start with the header since that is hands down the most restrictive part. Work your way back from there. The Nameless DP/OP is probably the best bang for the buck. I went with JDL's overpipe ceramic coated and an Invidia catted front pipe.
