215/45R17 Winter Tire Questions

I definitely need to get a set for the snowy Pennsylvania roads. Can you only purchase rear tires, or it best to purchase four winter tires? What is the negative if only 2 are purchased for the rear? Can you use the factory rims and just alternate between the winter and summer tires? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for asking if already answered in other areas of this category. Thanks in advance for answering my questions.

Buy four. Check out why on TR's website. It's an easy decision.

If you lose traction in the front, which you will...will the only rear two save you? Understeer in the snow is just as bad as oversteer...though i'd take oversteer any day.

Don't be cheap, if you can afford to buy a new car then you afford to buy a full set of winter tires.

$2000 wheels? Different story...
