True to add grease to the wheel lock nuts or not necessary?

Well guys just wanted to know if it's necessary to add any grease or lube to the wheel lock nuts or that would make the nut stick even more and be hard to remove later.. i've heard some ppl use some grease. No idea.

Manual says not to use grease, so I did not. If you grease up the lugs and torque to the recommended torque spec, you will have a higher preload value than if you had left the studs dry. Whether that is good or bad for a car hub, i don't know. It's either a preload issue, or they are worried about vibrations loosening the lugs when greased.

Well, dssence, I've been putting wheels on vehicles for over 60 years and never lubricated a lug nut stud. I've never had a nut that I couldn't get off, nor have I ever had a lug nut come lose or lost a wheel.....

PS - I just tighten them down with a "star" pattern and tighten them up with a "cross" wrench till they squeak twice or I grunt once. Some folks use a torque wrench (around 75 ft lbs of torque usually keeps them on).

hehe well that's nice you haven't lost a wheel .. Listen which wheel lock nuts you recommend , Mc gard ones? . I live in argentina they said to me the wheel lock nuts for the FRS are the same as for the corolla M12 x 1.5 is that correct?

If you grease the lug or stud you could very easily over torque the bolt trying to get it to spec. It will just keep spinning and the torque wrench may not click.

I have mcgards. Thread is M12x1.25.

Damn how can I check if mine is M12 x 1.5 , heard people saying the corolla fits this one . I own a toyota 86 FT . should I use a caliper?

Sure, you could use caliipers. Measure 10 threads from peak to peak or valley to valley and if it's 12.5mm, then you know the pitch.
I'm almost 100% sure it's going to be 1.25 regardless of the country. I bought the Mcard M12X1.25 and it fits the FRS. Could do a quick google search as well.

It's supposed to be 89 ft lb of torque.
