About Mach V Motorsports

I see quite a few posts with questions like, "Who can balance my tires?" or "Where can I get my header installed?" or "Who does alignments?" I often think, "Don't they know we do that, and that we do a great job?" I thought I'd give a little virtual shop tour to tell you about Mach V Motorsports, what we do, and the kinds of services we perform.

Pronunciation: "Mock Five". (Just for the record. )

Location
45690 Elmwood Ct. Sterling, VA 20166
(571) 434-8333

Hours

We're open 9:30 to 5:30 weekdays, and offer tuning and service work during that time. We're also open 12-3 on Saturdays, but only the showroom and parts counter is open. No tuning or service work on Saturdays.

History

Mach V started in 1998. We had a parts business for DSM cars (Eclipse/Talon/Laser). In 2002 the WRX came to the U.S. and we expanded into that. We added installation and tuning services around that time, too.

We moved to our current location about six years ago. It took two days to dig the pit for the dyno. There was a boulder in there about the size of a small car. We had to carve it up with diamond-bladed saws and haul the pieces out.

I like our current location because we have all our stuff in one space -- installation, showroom/waiting area, and warehouse.

Tuning

I do the dyno tuning currently, although I may have a helper soon. I've been tuning Subarus since 2002, and have tuned many hundreds of cars. The BRZ/FR-S ECUs are very familiar, since they use current Subaru ECU technology. I use BRZEdit so there's no ECUTek licensing to worry about.

We have a pretty huge YouTube channel -- more than 300 videos. Most of them are of cars on our dyno.

Shop Cars

We've had many Mach V cars over the years, including a 2008 WRX STI pictured above, and a 2005 Legacy GT wagon. We currently have a BMW 335i (my daily driver) and a BRZ Limited with an Innovate Supercharger. I did the ECU calibration for that car, and we offer that calibration with any Innovate install we do.

If you want a ride in the supercharged BRZ, give me a call. I'm happy to take you out if I have a few minutes to spare.

Social Media

Besides YouTube, we are on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. I like to take photos. Most of the photos on our various media were taken by me.

Events

We have events about once a quarter. Our last event was a Dyno Night. Next up will be some kind of open house event. We also sponsor a NASA track day (HPDE) weekend each November.

Our events are a lot of fun! They are very popular and well-attended, especially with the Subaru community.

Here's our last summer open house event:

Like our Facebook page to keep up on what events are coming up.

So that's pretty much the virtual tour. I hope you have a little more idea of who we are and what we do. Feel free to respond here with questions.

Will you give us a heads-up on the Mid-Atlantic forum when you are hosting an event?

I've bought a bunch of parts from Dan and Matt at Mach V, also got my BRZ aligned there before an auto-x last year.
All of my friends with Subarus have been buying parts from them for years, never a complaint. My roommate also had his 08 STi engine replaced by them with a brand new 2012 block and a whole bunch of add-ons, plus tuned by Dan. That car is down right nasty.

Great prices and good guys to deal with.
