CAI & the Torque Android app?

Has anyone with a CAI and the Android Torque app measured the intake air temps with the stock airbox and their CAI? I was doing some checking with my stock airbox and find that for most of my driving the intake temps are equal to the “outside” air temps which makes sense since the air doesn’t stay in the airbox long enough to pick up any heat from the airbox itself. I’m just curious if anyone has tested this.
When I ordered the Descendant CAI for my tC2, I got dyno sheets from them but when asked, they never tested the differences in intake air temps.
The thing about a CAI is that while the filter is outside the engine bay, the intake air still has to travel through a metal pipe in the engine bay subjected to the same heat the stock airbox (and similar type aftermarket intakes) are. I would think that unless the air tube was somehow insulated, like with exhaust heat wrap and ceramic coating, it will pick up the same heat the stock airbox would. The stock airbox could also be insulated if wanted.
I’m thinking that a good setup is a stock airbox with a K&N filter and opening up the snorkel to allow more air to flow in.

You are correct. The factory setup is cold air induction. Drop in a filter, call it a day. Before you open up the stock snorkel, read GrimmSpeed's test of the stock induction.

I got a Drop In Filter with stock airbox. I get air temps of ~20°c on a cool night, & ~45°c onwards on hot day (~38°c)
