Perrin 2.5 Exhaust Users
Hello everyone, so if you guys don't know I've been really looking into an exhaust and I've probably narrowed it down to a Perrin 2.5 Resonated catback exhaust. At first I was thinking of a 3" Perrin Resonated but I have then decided that I wanted to get some headers to get that boxer rumble.
For the Perrin 2.5 Resonated in general, how do you guys like them? Drive by sound and also down shift sound? Also for people who run perrin catback with headers, which do you run and how does it sound. I really don't want a raspy sounding exhaust if I ever choose to go headers with my catback exhaust setup. Thanks again guys! |

Currently runs the Perrin catback res, sounds deep on start up but dies down pretty quickly. It's a catback that lets people know that it isn't silent but it is definitely not very loud. In fact, it is probably just a hair louder than stock but quite a bit deeper when you do hear it.
Not sure about drive by sound but my friends generally don't notice it. No noticeable down shift sound. |

This exhaust is all over Youtube. It's quiet till you pair it up with a catless header.

I have the complete Perrin 2.5 system. Overpipe, catted front pipe, resonated mid pipe coupled to a Borla equal length header.
Not overly loud, little to no rasp, no harsh highway drone. I like it a lot. Will note that I had to order and install the resonated mid pipe after installing the header. Without the resonator it was completely the opposite. Loud, raspy and drone. It was horrible. |

You can see what I have in my sig, I have 2 cats still in the system and it's loud where it should be, out the backend - in cabin it's not so bad.
Here's a few videos for you (Sorry for the boomyness - that's the GoPro mic for you): Resonated Catback only, stock header/over/mid-pipe: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JeIAMXDxEk"]BRZ Limited 4000 RPM Rev Limit, 1st/2nd Gear, Visconti tuned, perrin resonated cat back - YouTube[/ame] Full system as on the car now, in car: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-gFwloO1ag"]Subaru BRZ: Fall Drive - YouTube[/ame] |

@Norcalmav23 had the 2.5" resonated Perrin with 3" OP + 3" FP + UEL headers and switched to the 3" Perrin resonated.
The car went from 'really damn loud' to 'slightly obnoxious'. It sounds really damn good with the headers. You should try and sync up with him since we're all local.

I really want to hear the 2.5 res with catted headers.
Edit: but it's super quiet the engine/ wind noise is definitely louder than the exhaust in the 3-4K rpm range.. Hopefully once I'm past my break in period it's louder in the upper range! It's probably one the quietest catbacks I've heard for any car. I think there are some stock cars louder! Last edited by calmtigers; 12-31-2013 at 03:40 AM. |

If you don't go with new headers, get unres. I have it and love it. Sound is perfect and not obnoxious.

I run the resonated version and I also ran the nonres before. If you plan to do more work ie headerback and headers I would do the resonated. If you just plan to do catback, then nonres is great. While the resonated is pretty quiet by itself, when WOT it sounds amazing. You can be stealth at the same time if you want best of both worlds.

Anyone have an issue with their car making vibrating noises around the driver car visor area after installing the exhaust (Im guesing itll happen with any brand exhaust)? Happens around 2k RPM, once it goes past 2k its fine.
Pushing up against the area stops the sound, I may just put some padding in there. |
