Perrin intake questions

Hey guys,

Installed the Perrin 2.5" intake this afternoon. This is the first mod I have done to any of my cars. I had a few simple questions about troubles I ran into along the way.

First, the filter that comes with the CAI has 2 hose clamps on it

I was expecting that both clamps would fit over the metal intake piping, however, the plastic on the inside of the filter step to a smaller diameter after the first clamp. As a result, I was only able to slip the filter onto the piping up to the first hose clamp. While tightening the clamps, the filter slipped off the pipe several times. I think that this was due to misalignment and over tightening, but it sketches me out a little bit. Is this proper fitment for the filter?

My second question, is that I never used the hose clamp that came with the CAI. I skimmed through the directions again, and it sounds like that clamp was meant to connect the intake tubing with the stock, rubber tubing that connects to the throttle body. Is this correct?

Thanks for the help guys, you are great!

Hello Pseudo, the bigger clamp on the filter is to hold the filter onto the metal inner cage. The filter is made to come off to make it easier to clean. The smaller clamp is for tightening on the intake pipeitself to keep it on. Sometimes the rubber inner part of the filter gets oil on it, and it will make it slip off when the clamp is too tight. If it's slipping off, clean it off with a paper towel, and make sure not to overtighten it. It just needs to be finger tight with a screwdriver to stay on. I hope that helps, if you have any more questions, let me know!

The plastic vent you will want to keep in place. It could cause the car to run weird if it's not there.

A K&N filter can work as long as it's the right size. Thanks!
