INTAKE QUESTIONS

Im sure this has been asked but i cant seem to find anything good. so does anyone out there have any good recomendations on a cai. Iv been hearing that the stock airbox is well designed and people are simply dropping in aftermarket filters.. but im not interested in that. if anyone has anything good/bad to say about any particular intake let me know. as of now injen seems to be my first choice.

Stock intake is great on this car, kinda like the air box on a porsche 911. Just flows well from factory.

Enough gains can be had with a tune made for a drop in filter and, exhaust as a combo. You get the sound you seek and the power to back it up.

Pick any intake and get tuned for it. If you're not interested in getting a custom tune, don't get an intake.

I had initially planned to install a CAI. Then people started posting they were having idle issues after the install, as if the MAS wasn't adjusting properly to the change.

Some dealers might cause warranty grief as well, so I just got the K&N drop in unit and will do an exhaust in spring.

Correct on that one. Most dealers do become a little hard on the warranty thing. However is that is a concern just drop in a filter and call it a day. There are many filters on the market, I know of the K&N, aFe and Perrin.

I would suggest to wait a bit more before getting an intake (unless you don't mind fidgeting around your car) , it seems to be random issues with some of the ones out there.

As my friend is saying (and I agree), this isn't the 90's anymore, intakes needs alot of R&D nowadays on those complex engine electronic / adjustable ECU.

I think we should wait before we have more experience with the CAI's that are offered right now.

It appears the best option is not to have one unless you also do the exhaust and get a tune.

The question is: Which is the best combination of intake and exhaust.

Hopefully Cobb will come out with a unit soon so we can use their maps or tune it ourselves.

AFE is the only CAI I've seen other than modified stock intakes.
