Borg Warner Vs Garrett
Hey guys I see a lot of people like the Garrett's and I have heard their name for a long time. I also see a lot of people really love the Borg's. can anyone tell me the pro's and cons to each turbo. Thanks everybody. If this has been posted already a link would be greatly appreciated too.

we use the BW turbos in some specific applications vs others. The BW turbos honestly are more well suited for goals that will require slightly higher boost levels. the garrett turbos are proven and as a Warehouse Distributor for Precision COMP etc they have the highest success rates without warranty issues. You might make a little less power than the matching Precision but it wont crap out on you early making you send it in for repair.

Opposite Precision has the has failure rate. Garrett best success rate. this is the reason why we use precision for more of our track specific builds and Garrett in all our production turbo kits.

Ok got it. That's what I though but I was not sure. So are Precision turbos Borg Warners? Or are they separate as well? And last question do you recommend a GTX2867R or a GTX3071R for a ~325-350whp set up street car with a great mid range but still a good top end. Usually would be driven in the low to mid range with out a doubt but here and there I will take it to the track and I like to WOT on the highway often enough. Someone said the 3071 is over kill. Trying to make up my mind. I keep going back and forth. I don't want something I would be I over working nor do I want to something too much for my needs. Also when the time come I would be getting my kit from you all. I live in Broward so how could I not go with a great local name like you all.

Precision is different from BW. Issue is i think Im the only one who has tested/tuned the multitude of turbo options. To date Ive done the GT28r GTX2867, GTX3071, GT3071, GTX3076, And all the t3t4 turbos. TheGT30 is not much laggier on spool than the GT28 on this motor. For example ive seen the 28 reach 10psi@ 3400rpm whereas the 30 reach he same benchmark @3600rpms. Theory only goes so far when selecting turbo size.I think thats more well suited to TotalHP goals. For spool characteristics depend allot on exhaust flow, manifold design, backpressure and for this motor the cam phasing settings while tuning. ive always relied more on real world testing when it comes to turbo recommendations.Someone cant tell me something if they or someone else has no precise data to back it up vs hear say. Not to many people actually run different turbos on their car to provide this data. they will only be able to tell you what their specific selection did on their own car. I would go the route of the GT3071 or GTX3071 only reason being is the 28 will make similar power but puts you closer against your knock window once you get up around 10psi.

If its pushing out the same psi how is it approaching the knock window? Exhaust restriction or something? And in another post I saw a GTX2867 hitting 8 psi a little under 2000rpm. I'll try to find it. Is the difference in lag in your experience really so minuscule?

Mostly the knock question. You have answered the other questions in other posts and threads since yesterday.

Youll generate less KR on larger turbos since you wont be making as much peak TQ in the lower rpms when you jump on the gas. You also wont have to remove as much timing up top on pump gas to yield max power either.
