Where to find offset?

Just wondering where on the rims the offset would be stamped? I picked up my frs and dropped it off at the shop for them to fit some wheels for me. I went with 18x9 but I do not know the offset. They are pretty much flush. Maybe poke just a hair.

Offset, if embossed on the wheel, will generally be on the back of the hub, most likely.

If the wheels are German or Italian they normally have the offset (ET) stamped somewhere on the wheel, often right next to the size.

It isn't required to be though and some wheels just don't have this info.

If the wheel is stripped less using offset is easy. You put a straight edge over the back rim and measure to the hub face where it seats on the car hub. The number in mm is the ET.

You can estimate this even if the tire is mounted by measuring the distance from the inflated sidewall to the hub face and deducting one half of the difference between the section (half of 215 if stock width tire ) and one half of the wheel width (half of 7 inches and 7 inches is 178 mm or half of 8 in your case, 8 in being 203 mm) or, if you can measure the actual sidewall bulge use that. Be aware that specified tire width is approximate so young the 215 number will not yield accurate results.

Thanks for the reply... I looked on the back of one of my rims and couldn't see anything. I'll check the others and if nothing measure myself. Thanks again!

The offset on Japanese wheels are stamped as ET, just like European wheels.

It's often on the back of the center hub.

Yes, and often isn't there at all. ET is German 'Einpresstiefe' or "insertion depth" and I think but do not know that TUV standards in Germany require this to be on every German made wheel or wheel offered for sale in Germany.

On most of the cast wheels I've dealt with (Gram Lights, 5Zigen, Enkei, SSR, etc) the offset is either etched on the backpad of the wheel, or on a sticker on the inside barrel.

Keep in mind we're talking Japanese wheels. I can't say the same for Taiwanese/Chinese/Filipino/Vietnamese/other "JDM" wheels...
