Octane level and tune
Hello guys!
Question: I'm planning to buy a custom tune and I was wondering if there are big difference in hp/tq from a 93 octane tune and a 95 octane tune. I live in Italy-Europe and as far as probably you know here we use RON to calculate octane and not AKI. I had read around and I have access to 100 RON fuel in my town, that should approximately be 94-95 AKI (translated in US measure). Would you ask for a 95 octane tune or for a 93? Can the tuner see via the logs if the fuel is actually around 95 octane or less? I'm worried that I'll ask an aggressive tune due to 100 RON that should be 95octane US and then find myself fucking up the car because in reality it has a lower octane level. just run the 93 OTS map and rest assured that you have a little headroom. you won't benefit from the higher octane fuel unless you customize the tune yourself, or have someone do it for you.

Yes, there is a noticeable difference form our U.S. 93 octane to your 98 RON (if that's what you have in your area).
To get the most out of your octane you will want a custom tuned map for your car, octane, and conditions. We have a couple of guys in Europe we have done custom tunes for and we can run more timing on your better fuel. If you want some help we'd be glad to answer any other questions you might have

Probably because i would like to have a slightly safe margin i would ask the tuner to push it like a 98octane. You will hear from me as soon as I pass the 7k km marks on my car. I wanna give the engine another bit of time before start pushing it

All fuel of the same rating is not equal. Based on the additive beside actual gasoline, you can sometime have 93/98 that reacts to timing adjustments as if you have lower grade 91-95 in your fuel tank.

You may have to ask someone at a shop or that knows fuel, it's the other half of the AKI equation and just something I would be interested in knowing, Thanks!
