That's an old news.

He have EZ30 engine into it. This car have been in Hot Version before test driven by Keiichi Tsuchiya & Manabu Orido.

one the of reason is the weight. It weight over 30kg more (+66lbs). It become front heavy and require a lot more work to be done to hit their "lightweight" goal

Yep. I know that it weighs more, and I know that it would be more expensive, but it would be awesome if they made an H6 an option. I definitely would like this more than a turbo if Subaru ever decides to bump power output or offer a higher model.

Agreed. This seems like it would be pretty awesome. Honestly, I don't think the 66lbs difference would be too noticeable. That's like a 2% increase... What kinda power does this engine make?

Yes, you can dream. I don't hate the idea... just it won't fit in the idea of 86, that's all.

BUT say... IF Toyota use 3.2 Liter H6 twin turbo w 86 chassis widen and made wheelbase longer tad a bit longer and call it coughcoughSUPRAcoughcough then I think, it'll be awesome!

2% increase is a lot more than you think. For daily driving, you barely notice, but when it comes to racing... it's a BIG difference. You're forgetting that, 86 isn't 50/50 weight ratio and making a tab disadvantage against other sporty cars. If they drop the engine 20mm and push it back 55mm (minimal) then may~be... but still all the suspension design (specially the front), I'm not sure it's worth it.

EZ30D is 220ps & EZ30R is 245ps

In stock form, something like 245-250hp, if I remember right, though it isn't intended for a performance application (so it could probably be retuned to make a bit more)

I think if it was done carefully, with a new version of the engine (higher revving, higher power, possibly lighter weight, DI?) pushed back as far as possible, possibly combined with some supporting mods (lighter front end? Stiffer chassis? Fatter tires?) and then sold as a BRZ STi, it would fit the idea of the 86 just fine. Even if it ended up weighing 30-50lb more, as long as the suspension and chassis was tuned for the higher power and more weight, and the weight distribution was maintained, I doubt it would be a problem. Actually, if that had been an option last spring, I would likely be driving one right now.

(I'm talking about a proper factory second engine option here, not just dropping an EZ30R in and calling it good)

Subaru won't put H6 in there. Won't worth the R&D and all other stuff. It's prob cheaper and better to drop 2.2~2.5liter H6 instead. If Subaru really do bring BRZ STI, H6 won't be in there 300%. Other name and STI, maybe, but not in BRZ brand

I agree with you - I don't see it happening. I was more just talking about what I wished would happen. On the other hand, a 2.5ish flat 4 could be a possibility at some point down the line.
