Sound generator delete for $1.06

So currently my car is prepped to have fa20club's turbo kit installed and long story short I don't have the rest of my turbo kit yet and I need to drive my FRS for a few days. I do not want to re-install the sound generator so I took a couple measurements and headed to home depot and picked up one of these(sorry for the blur, its a 1.5" schedule 40 threaded pvc cap) :

Got home, tried to fit it in and no bueno. So I grabbed a file and vice grips and went to work:

Sanded it down with the highest grit sandpaper I had lying around(800 grit), washed it, and tried again. Here is the result:

It was a bit of a struggle but I managed to get it on with the help of a flathead. The hex tip of the cap prevents the cap from being sucked in and the tight fit + hose clamp ensures that it wont fall off. If I wasn't going to be installing a turbo and this was going to be more permanent, I would probably round out the hex head and paint it black. But since its a temp fix, its going to stay fugly.

Hope this helps some of you just trying to get rid of the sound generator.

Isn't there a hole in the cabin you have to plug as well? I'm not sure how easily water could get in so it might not even be a big deal.

i used it to run my wideband wires through, which were enough to pretty much block it up. if you weren't using it for that purpose it'd probably be a good idea to block it off (and maybe even if you are).

I plugged mine with the cheap plug from Home Depot. I think it was like 70 cents. Took it from the other post on here.

I plugged that hole with this.

Spent less than a dollar. I also bought the correct size o-ring to seal the hole extra tight.

There's actually a 12v outlet I think in the glove box
with a plug on it which you can use to plug the hole in the cabin,
it's like they knew we didn't want it there

A 1-1/4" glue in PVC plug fits perfect and looks much better but nice job!

Removed my aftermarket intake and had to put the stock airbox back in temporarily, didn't want to bother with the sound generator and the firewall is already plugged. This is what I used, 70 cents out the door at Home Depot.
