Offical Toyota 2000GT Thread

http://www.caldwell-toyotanews.com/A...48325841209317
Find out why the vintage model set a new record

Toyota may be synonymous with affordability, but the automaker is also renowned for its top-performing, quality vehicles, such as the 1967 Toyota 2000GT. This classic model is a perennial favorite of auto enthusiasts around the world, and is the holder of a new record for most expensive Asian car ever sold. The 2000GT was recently auctioned in Japan for an unprecedented $1.16 million, and our team at Caldwell Toyota Scion has the details.

We all know that Toyota makes great vehicles, but what makes the 1967 Toyota 2000GT so special? For starters, with only 351 2000GT models ever built, and merely 62 left-hand-drive cars (such as the one auctioned off), it is indeed a rare find. Thanks to its many advanced features, the 1967 2000GT is also undeniably ahead of its time. Features of the supercar include:
  • a 150-horsepower, dual overhead cam
  • 2.0-liter straight-six engine
  • a five-speed manual transmission
  • A reported top speed of over 135 miles per hour
The 1967 Toyota 2000GT may no longer be available, but we invite you to stop by Caldwell Toyota Scionsoonto check out our expansive inventory of other amazing Toyota vehicles!

this article doesnt tell us much.. need to do more digging

1968 Toyota 2000GT RM Auctions - Monterey, CA

Amidst all of the Italian and German classics these past few days in Monterey RM Auctions, it looks like this gem showed up:

1968 Toyota 2000GT closed out at $935,000.

The link is pretty good if you want to backtrack to all off the other available cars that were auctioned off.

Have you ever tried to fit in one? If you are over 5'10" and 160lb then you can forget it.

Sub-zero every day of the week.

IIRC, that little hatch behind the fender is where they put the battery for better weight/balance.

Sub-Zero. This is the one car no matter the price tag if I had that kind of money wouldn't hesitate to spend. It's just one of those few cars like the AE86 that made me want to become a car enthusiast. Not gonna lie, If I see one in person ever again I'd tear up and just say thank you.
