Jetta vs rubber mallet

My wife got in a minor accident a few weeks ago and the other drivers insurance accepted fault for it. On Monday she took it to the body shop of their choice and yesterday she got it back. When I got home from work she let me know that she has a strange noise when the engine is shut off. When I heard it it sounded like the fan was running through gravel but was ok when running. Upon opening the hood I found a rubber mallet jammed in between a hose an one of the radiator fans!

Here you can see where the fan wore down the handle

Unfortunately the owner is being a jerk and won't pay to have an independent shop assess any damage so I'll have to pay for it and recoup my money through small claims.

Years and years ago, I had a gem of a car, an early 80's something Olds Cutlass Sierra, arguably one of THE worst cars ever made.

What made it worse was it kept throwing belts, and after the 3rd time I finally looked under the hood and found a pry bar wedged down near the pulley, which was rubbing the belts and causing them to burn up and fail. This all started to happen just after a scheduled dealer service.

Took it back, and the cheapshit dealer didn't even pay for anything, and wanted the tool back!
