How to remove flat head rivets.

I am trying to install the OEM mud guards. There is one flat head rivet I need to remove for the two front guards. This is usually very easy if the rivet has slots on its top. (mostly for Philips screw drivers). But these flat head ones are very hard to pry off. Anybody has some good ideas to suggest? Waiting for the help. Thanks guys.

Thanks. I do not have them now. But I really want to get it done today. Any workaround?

Look up what these rivets look like and you'll know how to take them off. And if you can't figure it out by looking at the shape, then I can't help you there.

There's plenty of info on the web on how to take these off.

Didn't have a trim tool myself, so I took 'em off with some nylon case opening tools I had lying around - basically two flat-head screwdrivers made out of nylon. Worked pretty well when I used both at the same time to pry from opposing sides, maybe that'll help.

Are they the ones that are a circle within a bigger circle? Similar to the ones in the trunk lining, just without the little openings for a pry tool? If so, you can just take a flat head screw driver and gently pry around the circle until it comes out enough to grab it and pull.

If they are ones with the little button in the center take a pick or a small phillips screwdriver and push the center button IN. It will pop in about an 1/8" and you will feel it click. Then just pull the rivet out by hand. Once its out you have to reset the rivet by pushing the center pin from the back side until it stick OUT 1/8". To replace push into place and then lock it using your finger.

This is the most helpful comment! I used a flat screwdriver to pry around it for a while. Then tried to pull it using nails, won't work. So I used some brutal force to get it off. But it is important to pry around all edges. Pry just one point won't work. Thanks again!
