Lap times on NW tracks?

I'm in the very preliminary stages of calculating if the FRS is a valid platform for what I want to use it for (racing related). I am requesting information from folks with modified 86's who have tracked their cars.

So we have people form Oregon to Vancouver BC tracking their cars at Pacific Raceways, The Ridge and Portland International.

Here's the target lap times I'm hoping the car is capable of and doing so without exceeding 240-280whp.

PIR w/ chicane: 1:22-1:24
Pacific Raceways: 1:29-1:31
The Ridge: 1:48-1:51's

These are extremely fast lap times if you're familiar with these tracks. Are you close to these times? Are you within ear shot? What do you think it would take to get you or your car within reach?

I've only been on track twice now, ever. My times around PIR on day 2 improved to just above 1:38 with the Chicane. I don't feel I'm pushing the car anywhere near it's limits yet as I'm still gaining confidence. As a driver I have a lot of improvement to be had before I could intelligently answer your question but I do think your target for PIR is totally doable with this car if it's FI.

My car is on Michelin Pilot Super Sports and lightweight wheels, KWv3 suspension set up by Adrenalin Racing, Intake, Header back exhaust, and a shelf tune.

AFAIK, Ben @ AJ Racing did 1:57 last time around @ The Ridge after getting our 200WHP NA calibration. He'll be back there this coming weekend...

Bob @ Drift-Office, LLC

Thank you Bob. I'm looking forward to how it turns out.

I'm trying to find the right car that can run to the Sport Touring rule set with ICSCC without spending $100k to develop or operate the car. I'm trying to calculate if the FRS can hit this target affordably or if I'm just going to have to break down and buy a Corvette.

Page 89 of this PDF (page number 86): Class = Sport Touring
It's one of the fastest growing race classes in the PacNW but unfortunately it can be VERY expensive if not done right.
http://www.icscc.com/references/comp...3_complete.pdf

The most important features of this rule set are:
1: Cannot exceed a power to weight ratio (on Dynojet) of 10:1
2: Car cannot weight less than 2200lbs or more than 3700lbs with driver.
3: Wheels cannot be wider than 10" and tire must be DOT compliant (like R6's, Z214's, Toyo RR etc). Probably in the 275-285 size, at least in the rear.

One of my primary operating factors in this equation is pump gas, which part of why racing the Corvette in this class is so affordable. Stock engine, 92 octane a little ballast and voila! 10:1!

At the last PIR track day the Three Amigos (jblmr2, speedy and I) were fairly equal between 138.XX-139.XX. I think all of our mods were similar with nearly stock size DOT 140-200 tires and track but not race pads on stock rotors.

I'm wondering where you'll get 16 sec. and sort of roughed out gains but it's an uneducated guess:

--Wheels & Tires, 4 sec., $2,000

--BBK, 4 sec., $4,000

--Coilovers, 4 sec., $2,000

--Sway bars, ??, $500

--Chassis stiffeners, cage, etc., 1 sec., ??

--FI, tune, 2 sec., $6,000

--Seat, harness, 1 sec., $1,000

--Weight reduction, 1 sec, ??

--Pilot, ??, Priceless

Sound anywhere near right?

Also, about the Corvette. What model? I thought stock C5-6's were already <10 lb. horsepower?

The more I think about it, a detuned 2ZZ budget version of this would be fun...

C5.

With the Vette, after you add the cage and add some ballast (100-200lbs) you can readily find yourself at the 10:1. There's 2 guys in this class already with them. One is doing it on a shoe-string budget, the other has spent a small fortune. Both guys run similar times.
