intake/exhaust/header + tune usually net guys around ~25whp from all the charts i've seen on 93 pumpgas. doing e85 will get you more if you can get it.
personally, just save for a turbo kit. i don't see a point in dumping into bolt-ons and tune. the car still won't be quick either way. this car, imo, needs force induction to be any kind of fast and it's the perfect car for it! another reason why my car will stay stock until i am able to do the whole turbo thing all in one shot. i don't care to buy intakes and exhausts for the 5whp gained; then at a later date, changing it all for a turbo setup. seems like a waste... |

I was looking for whp but yeah that's true it wouldn't make sense to buy all that for just a couple more hp I think the turbo kits are too Damn expensive tho lol I mean I could afford it but just don't know if it's worth it. What kind of turbo were you looking at

Well, for starters, I suggest a drop-in Air Filter. I bought my K&N Filter for $40. Rough estimate of around 5whp (a DS Sport video series dyno has it as 5.5whp). Less than $10 per 1 whp is as efficient as you're gonna get, even if it's not a whole lot of whp.
If you're deadset on "30" whp, you're best bet for that remaining 25whp is either from exhaust mods (header/frontpipe/overpipe) + a Tune, or the Electronic Superchargher that is still being developed + a Tune. EDIT: If you have access to e85, just e85 with a Tune and an Air Filter should get you close to 30whp I think. |

Good info thanks!!! I will probably get the air filter and maybe the exhaust still considering a turbo tho so for now I'll probably do air filter and the e85 is probably an easy affordable mod too

If you can afford a turbocharger setup and aren't concerned with your warranty, I would definitely recommend going that route. However, you asked for a cheap and easy route to +30whp, not +300whp, so that's why I didn't recommend it. The other ways I listed are much cheaper for 30whp. A turbo is going to cost significantly more, but the gains are massive.
EDIT: Obviously +300whp is on the extreme side, but it has been done on the stock block. More realistically, with a conservative kit/tune, you're looking at an easy +100-200whp. You'll also get much bigger gains with access to e85. Last edited by Hanni_0176; 10-17-2013 at 02:39 AM. |

IMO the 2 biggest is Headers with a Tune. It should get you close to your goal. E85 can get you there for sure. Also make sure you get EL headers as they make more power then the UEL ones on the market. Just stay away from boral's EL(UEL are okay)

Just use this: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39719
I sat shotgun in one of the cars with that system. It's definitely an underrated option for these cars. Lots of lowend power and the torque dip is not felt anymore. |

The mod that will make your most gains would be a tune... depending on tuner of course. I'd do an OpenFlash Tablet and see how much you can extract. Better yet, there are already stage 1 maps you can upload. That's the only mod I see worth getting in the early quest for power as you can continue to tune it and tweak it. Whereas an intake, exhaust, and header would just resort to a storage bin later when going turbo.
Fa20club turbo kit seems to be the bang for the buck from what I see on the market presently. If you got the skills, making you own custom kit would be the way to go. Turbo is like a 100whp increase. Worth saving for imo; versus doing i/h/e +tune, then having to redo everything over when you turbo... Doing a proper i/h/e/tune still will set you back a decent chunk.of coin that, imo, would be better off putting towards a turbo system. That my $0.02
