Back up camera on BRZ?

Has anyone successfully installed a back up camera on their BRZ (with the Pioneer deck)? I'm thinking of installing one and curious if any one has done it yet...

Did you check the DIY section? I'm pretty sure in the DIY for installing one there's a BRZ owner with it working.

That's for the US head unit though.

I did a backup camera install in my BRZ with the Pioneer headunit. I didn't take any pictures but I used:

Harness from Amazon to give RCA reverse camera input
[ame="http://www.amazon.ca/Replacement-Assembly-Harness-Pioneer-X9310BT/dp/B0088HRFJG"]Subaru Replacement RCA Cord Assembly AV Radio Harness for Pioneer Avic X9310BT.: Amazon.ca: Electronics[/ame]

Crimestopper Camera (but any other camera should work)
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...818.EM.II.html

This camera works well at night but I would have preferred one with a wider view. It did require drilling into the plastic trunk trim but looks flush/stock once installed.

To power the camera I tapped into the harness for the stock amplifier in the trunk and added a relay between the constant +12v wire and the remote turn-on coming from the Pioneer headunit. You can't use the remote turn-on directly since it is only rated for 300ma and most cameras use more than that. This is more work than finding another switched 12v source (e.g. behind dash or cigarette lighter) but since I was already adding a relay for aftermarket amplifiers this was the easiest for me.

For the reverse signal to the head unit there is an unused 28-pin harness sitting behind the headunit. You need to tap into the orange-white wire in pin 2 and connect this to the loose purple wire in one of the existing pioneer harnesses (which may be taped up). This tells the headunit to show the camera when you go into reverse.

I recently helped another forum member ucsmfu hook his up so he may be able to give pictures and more detailed instructions.

Do you have any pictures for the wiring? That will really help install it

Its pretty straight forward.

When you buy the new rca harness. You only need to attach the brown rca plug to yellow plug of the camera.

The camera has 2 wires. One black and one red. The black goes to any ground screw. The red goes to the orange wire of the 10 pin harness. This harness is unused.

Lastly, you take the purple wire from the black connector that plugs into the head unit. You will tap this wire to an orange and white wire from a 28 pin connector. Its pin no.2. Once again this 28 pin connector is found unused in the back of the head unit as well
