Help: Street Legal harness set up

Hi forum, so I was wondering if any of you are running a street legal harness such as the Takata Drift Series belts. I was wondering for these in particular, should I get the Bolt-On or Snap-On version if I do not plan on using a harness bar. I'd like to track my car in the coming winter season, and I want some belts that would hug me a little more! I would use a bar, but I do drive my car daily and carry 2+ passengers with me often, so I'm on the hunt for an alternative that could fulfill my needs. Any criticism/advice welcome, thanks!

Where exactly are you thinking of attaching the harness to the car?

No tech is going to pass a 4+pt harness without it being attached to a roll bar/cage or harness bar. Quality bar padding if your going to be using it as a daily driver too. You can mount the sides to or the harness to most stock locations as long as they meet specifications and the required angles. You will have to check with the harness manufacturer and whatever style/location/track/event/class racing group you plan on racing in.. The shoulder straps are not aloud to go down the back of the seat and to the floor. X1million if you using the stock reclining seat.

Having the shoulder straps at a lower angle, in the event of a roll-over/crash, will compress your spine fucking you up big time.

I can't remember but, I do believe Schroth Racing makes some harness that are legal to run without a bar.

Was interested in doing something like this but I was questioning the integrity of both shoulder straps being attached to the rear factory belt mounting points

not gonna lie but with my bride zeta 3 setup, the stock seatbelt works absolutely great and mine is daily driven. the seatbelt sits on me like it did when i was using my oem seat. just my .02

I just really like the holstered feeling with the use of a harness. Love your build btw, how difficult was it to install the rear seat delete?

I completely understand what you're saying about the Hongisto. Harnesses do feel absolutely great and very secure. Thanks for the love! The receipt delete took a little bit of modification in the sense that you need to file down some of the holes and make them a little larger. Unfortunately, as it seems with many carbon fiber products, they never seem to fit perfectly. It was just a little bit of filing and it was pretty minimal and you can't tell where I filed. The whole Zuider because they are covered by the top piece so all in all not bad and it took about 30 minutes to a half hour to install.

schroth rallye 3. Mounted to the rear passangers upper seatbelt location. I know a few that run this and its approved by schroth. Im thinking about doing it as well.

I had those takatas, the drift 2's. I had them mounted on the hooks behind the child safty inserts on the back seat through the middle of the head rest. With 2 eye bolts the sides were mounted. Hope that helped. Pretty straight up install.

I spoke to both Takeda and Schroth and both companies say the twins' geometry do not allow harnesses without a harness bar. As mentioned before, very deadly things can happen in a crash.

The the proper equipment varies depending on the seat you use and whether or not you want to use it on the street.

Stock Seats
+Harness Bar (Essex, etc) or roll cage
+Must use a 4 point harness with Anti-Submarine Technology (Schroth Profi II ASM, or the Takeda in the OP)
+The harnesses must have the red/orange "PRESS" button on them if you want to use them on the street.

Aftermarket seats
+Harness Bar or cage
+Recommended to have a 5 or 6 point harness (no need for Anti-Submarine)
+I don't think they make street legal 5 or 6 point harnesses.

Also note harness bars/cages can be dangerous in a crash when you don't wear a helmet, since you can be knocked unconscious if you hit your head on them.

I have the Essex bar and a pair of Schroth Profi II ASM FE harnesses. Despite being street legal, I don't use them on the street because I feel it limits my movement too much (e.g. I cannot lean forward to check my driver side blind spot). On the track though, its a completely different story: They are amazing!

This may sound like a dumb question but how do you keep the seat belt alarm from going off when using the harness?

I bieve some people just put the seatbelt behind the seat into the buckle so it's always in.

Just shut off the alarm by using Techstream or Carista.
