Power limit for our transmission? TESTED YET?

Does anybody know how much the gearbox can hold in terms of power? Torque?

...curious to know how hard the stock gearboxes have been pushed.

600tq?

That's what the manufacturer claims, but people are running double (or more) than that without it grenading. Internally it's very similar to the gearbox in an S15 silvia (SR20DET).

The one thing this car has going for it is its weight. Given it only weighs 2700 lbs, having a tranny that is rated at a specific torque number in a heavier car(say 3200lbs), will last longer because of the weight difference.

People are running high hp on the manual and havent grenanded....yet. Down the line they will be dropping left and right by people running a decent amount of power. Both MT's and AT's have fallen to power.

Care to elaborate? How did you exactly come to that number? Whats the life span of a transmission at that power level?

True. Car needs to be out longer to really test maximum power thresholds I think.
