went to check out a 370z
Just sharing my initial thoughts of the Z while I was out comparing cars today. I have been on the hunt for a new vehicle for a while, 370z, brz, mustang premium, and g37 being the top contenders. Today I was excited to visit the Z. When I heard it was now starting at 29.9k it became a real contender for me. I was pleasantly surprised by interior quality and feel it beats the brz in interior quality and feel. I also feel the Z's aggressive looks match its performance, and the brz looks more aggressive than it performs to a degree.
Soon as I looked around inside the Z, jesus, you can barely see a thing. Rear view window might as well not even be there, side views mediocre at best. Front view average. The brzs view out with front windshield is unlike any car I have driven or have ridden in. It gives me confidence of where the car is at and im not even used to driving the car. The car I am getting is going to be a DD, and after this trip I suddenly don't feel as enthusiastic about the Z, it can have all the performance in the world, if I feel uneasy about whats around me its just not fun. I am so close to choosing the brz limited after today... |

Keep in mind going F/I with the BRZ is expensive and almost always throws your warranty out the window. My dealer said they would warranty a Vortech system fyi so there is the chance. Maybe something to ask? But... power aside the BRZ is definitely the better car IMO. EDIT: Also for a DD the BRZ is almost a no brainer compared to 370z IMO. Back seats + more trunk space (also expandable via seats) means I get as much practicality and room I need 99% of the time. Putting a whole car load of groceries + appliances in a 370z would be a feat for sure. |

The twins also get MUCH better gas mileage then a Z. 34mpg is a pretty regular occurrence for me at 70mph.

If you do buy a 370Z, the sports package is a must, unless you like open differentials...

The VLSD in the sports pack isn't the greatest either.

Only worth it if you get the Nismo package, that car really does feel special. The run of the mill 370Z? Eh...wannabe Jap muscle car.

Open diffs suck
VLSDs suck I've never been a fan of Zs but they've grown on me over the past year or so. As stated above, if you get one, you have to get the one with the better brakes, diff, etc etc. Nismo 370 is pretty dope actually. I'd rock one

A lot of those visibility issues are nonissues if you are traveling at a pace slightly quicker than those around you. just sayin...

If youre going to get a Z then dont settle for the base one.
Also consider about the trunk space, backseats, and gas if you want a dd car.

I tried to dd a 350 enthusiast in 03. it lasted 6months. Nice car but not practical for daily use. The blind spots are bad for sure. I was single and never used the back seat in the mustang I traded in so I thought it would be no big deal. I was wrong.

Yep, test drove a 350Z and couldn't deal with the blindspots in the rear. THOUGH, it was a nice wide car

i had the chance to beat on the 370 nismo at the nismo performance academy and I was very impressed, but that was only track use. No clue how it would be for a DD. also I hate that synchro rev match.. thats for non drivers IMHO
