subaru dealer 1st oil change free? and other issues

So i went into a dealer today, and the guy said i didnt have an sas contract so i wasn't covered for the oil change. or any maintenance. I have 3300 miles.
And they wouldn't even look at my crickets issue without the manager there becuase he needed to get some sort of approval that he can change the fuel pump.
and now my ABS lights keeps popping up every now and again. probably a bad wheel sensor or something, they wouldnt look at that either.

soooo.

do you only get oil changes and things with the extended warranty?
and what dealers are the people in SOCAL taking their BRZ to.

I am not sure if Subaru offers free maintenance for 2 years or 25K miles like Toyota does... I don't recall it does, I think some dealerships offer it as an incentive to buy from them.

As far as the Service department not even looking at the problems on your car because a manager is not there seems wrong to me. If a common problem that has been addressed by a manufacturer, in this case its both Subaru and Toyota they should address it asap.

Especially if there is a problem involving your ABS system its unsafe and a possible lawsuit waiting to happen if something with the ABS goes wrong. Whether it may be a malfunction or not cant be determined till someone actually checks it out and for them to not even look at it is a big no no.

Service contracts are separate to any warranties.

I would go to another dealership with a more competent service department.

I have the 1st 2 years of oil changes free at no charge. There was paperwork that was filled out at the time of the sale. I am sure the 2 years is a specific number of oil changes. Since I have been having it changed every 3K miles it will not last 2 years for me. It has worked this way for my other Subarus as well.

Ummmm.. you do know that synthetic oil is good for over 15,000 miles right?

I plan on changing my filter every 5k, but not the oil.

As for the dealer not even looking at the car, I suspect that you need an appointment. If you had mentioned the liability aspect of the ABS, I am sure they would have checked it.

The oil change intervals would depend on the OP's driving habits and when he feels comfortable with changing his oil.

The owners manual states a 7500 mile oil change under regular circumstances. Can you go longer? Sure can, but would it be good for your car? Maybe, Maybe not. If you arent doing heavy driving ex. Track and AutoX you might be fine going longer. I personally dont trust an oil past 7K and wouldnt have the peace of mind to keep it longer than that. I like my oil changes at 5K and the 1st one much earlier than that.

Oh and if u go 15K miles and something goes wrong, your manufacturer can deny coverage because you went past the recommended oil change interval by double.

My dealership told me I have free oil changes as long as I have the car. It's an hour drive to the dealership though, so unless I'm already close by to them I probably won't be using them often. I'll be going this week for my second oil change at 7500 miles and also have them look into the cricket sound. It's starting to annoy the hell out of me. And it seems like it's only getting louder.

My dealer gave me my first oil change for free, but that's it.

Oil changes are specific to the dealer. If your dealer didn't give you the offer, then they aren't going to give you a free oil change. Or, conversely, if you were offered a free oil change by the dealer you bought the car from, but go to another dealer for an oil change, they wont honor it.

I personally change my oil at about 6K. I get worried if I go any further.
