Online helmet vendors?

My HJC SA2000 helmet expired and PCA/BMWCCA won't let me autocross or HPDE with them the rest of the year and they're the only game in town with three events to go.

I don't need anything too fancy, ideally not over $500-$600 with HANS anchors if there is such a thing. Any recommendations for a vendor who ideally carries a good selection and has budget friendly return/exchange shipping policies in case of fit issues? I'm partial to either Bell or HJC mostly due to cost considerations.

I called everywhere locally but nobody seems to carry SA (automotive) helmets, only SM (motorcycle). Looks like it's time to shop online.

TIA...

They are physically local to me (Redmond, WA). I bought my HJC from them and they can install the anchors.

425 Motorsports:

Get the Si-12. It's under 3lbs and very comfortable.

And yes, you can buy from them online.

OG Racing is really good in VA, stock HJC, Sparco, Arai, Bell, Simpson, and more. I bought my helmet personally from them.

I've had great luck with RaceQuip. Essentially they are the same quality of a Bell/Simpson/GForce at a lower price. I'd go as far as saying they come out of the same factory

Thanks for the replies everyone, great resources here.

One more question, black or white? I've read that the flat black helmets are prone to discoloration and staining unless rubberized so am considering the glossy finish black or white.

Some roadster autocross friends with black helmets say their helmets get warmer than white on a sunny day but I currently have a roof so it shouldn't matter, right?

I ride a Honda and would personally never buy a helmet I hadn't tried on first, but that's just me.

True, that's why I'm going with an HJC. After talking with HJC this morning, fit should be the same as my old HJC.

I have both black and white, and notice no difference between them as for heat. The black i have is rubberized, and it does wear pretty poorly, but nothing terrible. My next will be white.

If you can afford the HJC as a few said above, they are very good helmets. The disadvantage of the cheaper ones is you can really tell they skimped on the interior materials.

Remember, a helmet is only good for 10 years after its SA date. You can get great deals now on SA2005 helmets, but they will only be good through 2014 for most organizations.

I went with an HJC AR10II SA2010.

The removable, washable liner was key, a feature not available on the Si12. At 3½ lbs. it's only ¼ lb. heavier than the Si12.

On sale and with the discount code came to $270 for the rubberized black model compared to $312 at 425 Motorsports although shipping was $10. Includes free sock.

It should arrive this Friday, just in time for a weekend at Oregon Raceway Park.

I also sprung for a neck collar that I've read good things about and looked like cheap insurance.
