Wheel bearing gone at 1,500k!?
2nd week in owning the brz, and I already hear the all to familiar sound of a wheel bearing on its way out... Wtf. Gunna jack it up this week and check it out, really hoping its just a thrown wheel weight or something stupid, but It sounds exactly like that drone/ whaa whaa whaa from the bearing. I haven't even been doing any crazy driving, just a few drifts in a parking lot (wet). Amazes me a little sports car would go through one so quick, you guys doing autoX and stuff gone through any yet?
Other than that and the rattling transmission, car is so fine. Thanks, Luke. |

This is why we have warranties. My truck had a bad wheel bearing around 50k miles.

I've had a wheel bearing or two fail on several cars, it just happens. Many cars have their OEM factory wheel bearings as they get crushed. Just luck of the draw and a warranty repair. |

Okay thanks for the reply guys! Good to hear I shouldn't have any problems with warranty, had the thought in the back of my head it was one of the parts with regular wear that they wouldn't cover. Dunno what it is with me and wheel bearings, 2 on my last civic in just over a year.
Ps suberman our cars are twins! ( white, manual, sporttech) lol |

Did OP figure out if the wheel bearing was on it's way out?
I too am experiencing "drone-like noise" from my wheels while traveling above ~50mph. It seems to be coming from the front end only, but I could be mistaken. I first noticed it after mounting and installing new wheels & tires (I don't think it was happening on stock wheels). I thought it would go away after the tires were broken in, but it's still there. Think this is a wheel bearing issue? Or just road noise due to tread pattern? This is my current setup... Weds SA67R 18x9 + 36 Michelen Pilot AS/3 245/35 Alignment Specs F - Toe = 0.00 & 0.01 Camber = -0.3 & -0.8 R - Toe = 0.09 & 0.09 Camber = -1.4 & -1.5 |

Since we're on the topic, my Legacy's wheel bearing is going out. Anyone recommend any tried and true replacements? Obviously I'm not thrilled with the idea of OEM for wheel bearings.

I also thought I had a wheel bearing going out on me at around 2,000 miles. However mine was lowered on coilovers and after inspecting further, it was just a poor choice in tire selection. The front tires were beginning to cup from the negative camber I was running. Do keep in mind running a lower offset wheel does put more stress on the wheel bearing themselves and can cause premature failure.
