Should I buy a used Perrin panel filter or leave it be?

A fellow 86 forum member is returning to stock and said I could have his PERRIN drop in filter for $20 picked up. Seemed reasonable as it only has about 8000 miles on it. It seems like people are doing ECU resets and whatnot for these things and im just not gunna do that. Should I even take the measly $20 chance or just leave the airbox as is for now? Are the drop ons worth it and do they last while between cleanings? Thanks

I have one. Paid full price and I would do it again. $20 is a good deal. Do it.
