Intakes
Im a new car enthusiast and i want to buy an intake but i dont know anything about the differences between them all. Can you guys help me with some brand names that i can take a look at?

Trd makes one. Through scion the want just over 500 but I've seen them as cheap as 385

Just get a drop in filter. The stock intake system is well designed. I have the HKS filter (green).

The perrin inlet tube with a high flow filter works really well. Or you get the the perrin cai.

FA20Club Cold Air Intake and buy a tune.
![]() ![]() ![]() I bought a K&N Filter , I bought an AirRaid Intake , etc etc etc. I wasted a lot of money and time realizing none of them were worth a hoot to me or the car.Buy a True Cold Air Intake and have it tuned.:happy0180:

I've been thinking about getting a CAI but living in North Dakota and the winters getting so cold as in -25 in the winter. Would that mess up the CAI with the temp being that low?

I've had the Takeda/Greddy intake when I was NA. I actually noticed a bit of a difference with it. It usually goes anywhere from 300-400 depending on the site you buy from. If you want I can sell it to you for 200 +shipping. It just doesn't work with my turbo kit sadly.

There is a write-up done by DSport On intakes, but when looking through all the data the difference in gains from an intake are very marginal. The only intake system that just flat out "sucked" was the Weapon R intake kit. You lost HP with that one. Top 3 for Net gains were K&N, Injen, and Takeda. Both Injen and K&N had the highest peak gains, but the Takeda's gains covered a wider band than either. Though all that aside you will never get these "great gains" without a tune. I felt the Takeda had better throttle response and gave the engine bay a very attractive look. But all that is subjective. I think you can find the intake comparison data online. If you decide you want a Takeda you can have my lightly used one for 200+ shipping.

I been reading alot of conflicts with Injen intakes with the engine power. Is Injen really worth it if you extend the tubing to the front bummer? I'm on the same boat as being a noob.

I didn't extend mine, however I may have gotten lucky with the tune. Without the tune, the car felt sluggish and had annoying idle dipping with Injen installed. Not sure if extending the tubing would solve any of those problems.
