Non ethanol gas
Running non ethanol gas - 93 octane (sorry California). Runs great, highly recommend. I live in Louisiana and we have quite a few non-ethanol stations - mainly Conoco. Do a google search in your area, might get lucky. Go to Texas quite a bit, no ethanol stations, noticeable difference in performance and mileage.
Getting around 35mpg HW, 28mpg city with non-ethanol gas. |

Tragically the nearest non-ethanol station to me is 30 miles away, and on top of that I need to be a member of their yacht club.

Yes, I agree. I run Shell v-power which is also advertised as non-ethanol blend gas. I found it gives much constant performance than other higher octane gas that blends 10-15% ethanol in the mix. The consistency in performance is much more dramatic on my tuned evo.

Pure-gas.org will list non-ethanol stations all over the country. There's nothing in the Houston area sadly, but I did a road-trip up to Ohio and planned my stops around non-ethanol stations and it definitely made a difference. Crickets were gone by the second tank and the third tank got over 35 mpg at a steady 75 mph.

A little over a year ago, I downloaded a POI (point of interest) file for my GPS device. I believe it came from that website. It works pretty well. It sends me to tiny mom and pop gas stations out in the middle of nowhere that are closed often, but as long as you're trying to fill up during normal business hours, you should be good to go. EDIT: Yep, that's the website. I just checked. Here is the link directly to the file: http://pure-gas.org/extensions/poi.jsp

Most Gas stations here in PR are pure 91 octane gas!
Only Puma offers E10, and its still a pilot program that started in May... lol I hate Puma anyways |

I spent two weeks just outside of Savannah, GA, and the nearest E0 gas station around where I was staying was a huge brand new really nice station. There's also a fairly new Shell station by my house that offers it. Other than that though, all the others I've found are little stations with 50 year old pumps. No outdoor credit card machines or any of that fanciness.

Some tuners feel the need of that extra octane rating to run more timing on their tune for more power disregarding the ethanol content. Some aim for reliability and consistency, like me
