Replacing Tie Rod and Front Lower Control Arm - Ripped off?

So I, somewhat stupidly (okay...very stupidly), damaged my front lower control arm and inner/outer tie rod. From what I've seen online, it takes only about 30-45 min - max 1 hr - to replace the tie rod and around 1 hr to replace the front lower control arm. When I took my car to the dealer, however, they said it would take 4 hours for the inner tie rod, and an hour each for the outer tie rod and lower control arm. Am I getting ripped off?

why would you be ripped off if that's under warranty and you're not paying for it. unless they found out you were beating your car and decided not to warranty it...

Yes, that is a horrible rip off. Find a shop you like and take it there. Dealerships aren't the end all of mechanics.

This doesn't go under my warranty because its not maintenance and its a manufacture defect.. They're charging me 1200 bucks (parts aren't the bulk of the cost it's labor). I'll try to find a new auto shop. Should I just attempt to do it myself (I've never done anytype of car repair)? It all seems pretty straight forward and seems just a matter of having the right tools.

OP sounds like he's 18 and this is his first car.

Wrenching on your own car is a great way to learn how it works, but on a suspension component, take it to a competent mechanic who you (and the community around you) trust.

Your assumption is somewhat accurate..

Does Road Hazard Protection cover damage to mechanical components or just the tires/wheels? If so, I may be in luck.

How much is your deductible on your car insurance? If you damaged it by hitting a curb or whatever, your insurance should cover whatever is above your deductible if you have full coverage.

Is there any damage to the suspension mount points? If so, you could be looking at a wack of labour to straighten the unibody.

I was talking about warranty protection - I would try to resolve this without going to my insurance company. Luckily, there is no damage other than the tie rod and lower control arm.
