PERFECT LOW PROFILE TIRE SIZE

Good morning from Los Angeles!

I'm looking to purchase ROTA Grid 18 x 8.5/9.5 +44/+38 for my SWP BRZ and was wondering what the perfect low profile tire size would be.

I was considering 225/35/18 for front and 235/35/18 for rear but after thorough research and browsing through countless numbers of members' build pages, I'm a bit confused on which size to go with...

I'm pretty much split between 35s and 40s due to road safety issues brought up by some of the members but I've never purchased aftermarket wheel/tires before so I'm asking you guys for suggestions and help.

Any suggestions? Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Using 245/35/18 on 18X9.5's +38. Balances real well and speedometer isn't off. I've got a square setup though for tire rotations, not staggered. Anything meatier requires coilovers and more sidewall tread might cause rubbing.

well for starters, why are you going with a stretched tire?

on an 8.5 a 245/40 is square and on a 9.5 a 265/35 is square for hte most part.

if you must stretch them then go with a taller sidewall. however your offset isn't aggressive enough to warrant the need for stretched tires so if i were you i'd go with a 245/40 or a 235/40 front and a 255/35 or a 265/35 rear.

I'm running 18x8.5 +38 front 18x9.5 +38 rear with 225/40/18 & 245/35/18 Pilot Super Sports. Lowered on Eibach Sportlines

No rubbing, not much stretch.

I'm running 255/40/17 on 17X9 ET +35 on OEM suspension with no rubbing. I have even added a bit of negative camber in the front. The tires I'm running are the BF Goodrich G-Force Rival which has a measured tread of 262 mm.

If you are interested in autocross, the 9.5 in rear wheels will place you in a Street Prepared class, where as if you keep the width of your wheels at or below 9 in with tread width equal to or less than 265 (as printed on the tire, not measured tread width) you'll be in Street Touring Xtreme (STX).
