Thermal tape to protect wheel/suspension components?

Do you track junkies use wrap wheel/suspension components with thermal tape for protection from brake heat? Will HVAC tape work? Which components do you protect? ball joints?

The only stuff taped by my track friends are the wheel weights. My friends with heavier cars, like an Evo, will bring water to use in between sessions.

We have some great products that work for this application. It's a heat barrier called Teknofibra. You can hold your hand to one side of it, and heat the other side with a blow torch (video demo at that link). We sell this to the pro race teams. Some guys use it on their transmission tunnel, some on ball joints, etc. It is self-adhesive, and the adhesive doesn't fail under high temps. It's expensive, but killer stuff!
