HKS superExhaust + Ecutek Stage 2.
Hi guys, I wanted to share with you the results we obtainted combining HKS super exhaust and Ecutek Stage 2.
First the Exhaust, i'm not sure it is available in the states as is, but in Japan it is the top of the range option for the 86 / BRZ. It is composed as following: https://www.hks-power.co.jp/product/...ust/index.html - R-Spec HKS EL header , no cat - Metalic cat 150 cells Front pipe - Power Spec-L muffler The complete package saves a lot of weight (about 13kgs), and is superb quality !! (i know some of you had issues with SPEC-L mufflers. That, i will discuss in the appropriate thread, i've been able to talk to heads of HKS about it and had some answers) here are some photos to illustrate: ![]() ![]() Here a better view of the header and front pipe ![]() And the exhaust fitted on my car ![]() The installation went pretty smoothly, and then began the process of tuning the beast, SCREENpowers took care of it, and i can't thank them enough for the amazing job they did. They are pretty famous, and they prouved again how pro they are. The Ecutek custom tune they combined with the exhaust had tremendous results on the curves as you can see here: The torque dip is really well smoothed and even though there is still a "drop" you still have more torque than stock ! and the power band is improuved everywhere to the redline wich was pushed to 7600 rpm. I couldn't drive it yet, as they are finalising the map and pushing every single details, just as a side note, we changed the spark plugs for better ones in order to maximise our chances for the best tune possible. The boss said he was really impressed with the results and think this actually a pretty good solution ! As a bonus, here is one of the Tune runs on the dynapack ! too bad this doesn't make any justice to the gorgeous and very loud sound it makes: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZUbJaxj2pY"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZUbJaxj2pY[/ame] If you have any questions, feel free to ask Last edited by HaDDeS; 07-09-2013 at 11:04 AM. |

Thanks guys, well the relocation makes sense, on the stock setup the sensor is after the pre-cat located on the header.
On the HKS header there is not cat, it then needs to be relocated after the main cat, on the front pipe. Still should you want to run a "straight" pipe, the Header has "two" holes to put the two sensors on it clever !!! so it is totally possible to run catless without problems relocating the two sensors. Well of course you will still have to tune the ECU. But technicaly, no problems.

I have the same thing except the retain the stock muffler. Sound more solid in the cabin, and zero drone and actually nothing noticeable to the passenger. Outside there is barely any differences... In short, performance improve with a low and stock profile. This header and catted front pipe come with certificate of passing emission and noise test. Not sure if this is useful in USA.
I have Vortech supercharger installed and will be further tuned by @Visconti |

Hi, I got a pretty similar setup except my front pipe is catless, just dual resonators.
Are you still using the stock overpipe or did you get an aftermarket one, it wasn't mentioned in the original thread. |

The pictures show the stock overpipe. Looks like HKS needs to make one of those too!

The whole exhaust is HKS , from Manifold to Muffler
it is part of what they call "super exhaust" setup.

Your "overpipe" is still stock. You can see that it's still stock in your 3rd picture. It's the pipe with the heatshield that connects your header to your front pipe. The inner I.D. on the overpipe is just under 2inches or 50mm (I know because I just went outside to measure mine, it's sitting in the car port next to my stock header.)
What I want is your front-pipe. The pipe with the cat and resonator. I'd love to have that one. |

FRS/BRZ exhaust goes as follows:
Header--Over-pipe--Front-pipe--Catback (or Center Pipe and Muffler or Axle Back) |

My humble excuses LOL totally forgot bout that litle dude in the midle !! C*** !!!
well yes in that perspective , it is stock :OP indeed. Question is, should i get rid of it, hum will question that to the right people, well for sure its design isn't ideal at all stock, will it make that much of a difference over the full exhaust I dunno ... worth investigating for the next step maybe. thanks for pointing that out !
