So, I went to road trip this weekend.
Over this weekend, I and 3 other friends went road trip to West Virginia mountain roads. We started on Saturday morning and came back on Sunday afternoon. Roughly the entire driving took about 20 hours (excluding stopping for gas, eating, etc.) Total driving distance was around 720 miles. It was very fun going uphill, downhill, lots and lots of curves. Scenes were beautiful too.
List of cars/bike went to 13' FR-S (Stock suspension) 05' Mini Cooper S (well modified in terms of suspension/wheels) 92' Mazda Miata (just an oldie car. not much) Some bike (He has 350z, but one of the wheels went in for repair) All these guys are into cornering/suspension mods rather than power mods, so they're pretty serious about taking one corner at a time. Since the miata is old/tearing and not specifically modified for this trip, it was a big dangerous. The car spun on a down hill and stopped few inches off of the guard rail. Overall, it was a great trip. We felt sorry for mountain neighbors because we had to go a bit fast to pass them. Some got mad and there were some fingers going on ![]() Didn't get to take enough pictures... was busy driving! Oh, and the FR-S handled REALLY WELL. I don't really take a risk on a tight corners, but the car wanted me to go faster and faster. Most speed limits were 55 straight, 35~45 on corners and I was going at least 15mph above whole time. I am satisfied with the stock suspension for now. Let the other friend drive my car and he was amazed how it did. I am loving this car every day. I look forward to modify this car, so it is more enjoyable in every possible way. Few pictures... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Rt. 50 outside of Grafton (East) is a really fun stretch. I've been out there a couple of times.

Kinda surprised actually. I had a '94 Miata running all seasons and no real upgrades to speak of and I would feel more confident taking high speed corners with that than my BRZ.

Maybe miata needed newer bushings.

Here you go!
https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?vps=...9a8&dg=feature As all you know... the road won't be fun until you pass the Frederick. I really really recommend this trip! |

The friend who drove the miata said the same thing. The car had some Falken All season tire, dampening adjustable shocks. He said he felt more confidence going faster rather than going moderately. He was tearing up the gears in 5k - 6.5k rpm range all time.

I used to drive that mountain pass every day. Lived in Harrisonburg and commuted to the other side. I really miss that drive but my wallet and tires are glad I'm not there anymore. I definitely scared the crap out of a couple riding along on the downhill portion. ^_^
